Kimberly Fairman, Steering Committee Member

Kimberly’s early years in Yellowknife and some of the communities of the Mackenzie Valley give her an understanding of how art is interwoven with the daily life of northerners. Art provides a platform for the sharing of stories and a stronger sense of community. She brings a wealth of experience living and working in Canada’s North. Before becoming a committee member, Kimberly worked as the Executive Director of the Institute for Circumpolar Health Research and held senior positions in the Federal and Territorial governments, focusing on community and economic development. She spent time working in all three territories. Kimberly currently resides in Yellowknife with her husband, Fraser. Their four children and four grandchildren also live in Yellowknife. She has deep roots in Nunavut, her home community is Taloyoak.
